Frequently asked questions

Where does the information come from?

The AEMPS Summary of Product Characteristics (CIMA), BOT-PLUS from the Spanish General Council of Pharmacists, e-lactancia (APILAM) and clinical guidelines. When a medicine is not in the curated dataset, the AI writes the monograph from the same official sources and it is flagged with a purple badge.

Can I rely on the doses and the interactions?

The information is for guidance. It NEVER replaces the pharmacist's professional judgement or a medical consultation. Before any clinical decision, read the official Summary of Product Characteristics.

Are the brand names the ones sold in my country?

The English monographs list brands used in the UK and the US, not the Spanish ones: showing someone who buys at Boots a brand only sold in Spain identifies nothing. The active substance is the INN, which is the same everywhere. Strengths and dosage forms vary by country, so always read the pack.

How do I search by brand?

Type the brand straight in (for example Ventolin, Calpol, Eliquis, Viagra). The search resolves it to the active substance automatically, and it recognises both English and Spanish brands — useful if you are reading a box a patient brought back from Spain.

Is a medicine safe in pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The monograph shows the pregnancy letter category and the breastfeeding compatibility according to e-lactancia. For an individual decision, always ask the prescriber or your own pharmacist. There is also a dedicated pregnancy and breastfeeding tool.
