Frequently asked questions

Do these calculators replace clinical judgement?

No. They are decision-support tools. Scores are indicative and must be interpreted in the context of the individual patient. The final decision always rests with the healthcare professional.

Which versions of the formulas do you use?

The official validated versions: CHA₂DS₂-VASc (ESC AF 2024), HAS-BLED (Pisters 2010), Wells for DVT and PE, CKD-EPI 2021 without the race coefficient (KDIGO 2024), Cockcroft-Gault (1976), PHQ-9 and GAD-7 (Kroenke and Spitzer), Apgar (AAP 2024) and the GCS (Teasdale & Jennett 1974).

Why CKD-EPI 2021 without race?

Since 2021 the CKD-EPI equation no longer includes a race coefficient. NKF/ASN and KDIGO recommend the race-free version to avoid bias in the management of chronic kidney disease.

Does the calculation happen on my device?

Yes. Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and no scores are stored.

Why two kidney function calculators?

CKD-EPI is the standard for staging chronic kidney disease (KDIGO). Cockcroft-Gault is still the equation printed on many drug labels for dose adjustment (DOACs, antibiotics, gabapentin). It is worth having both.

Is this site in English?

Partly. The clinical tools are being translated one by one; the rest of the site covers Spanish pharmacy employment law and stays in Spanish. Anything with a language switch in the menu has an English version.
